Men's Soccer Announces 2007 Spring Schedule

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis men's soccer team will participate in five games and a fundraising event this spring, head coach Richie Grant announced Friday.

The Tigers will open up the spring with a home game, where they will host Tennessee U-23 on Friday, February 23 at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and admission is free to everyone.

After a month break, the Tigers will host the annual Tim McCage Cup, formerly known as the Memphis Cup. The tournament will take place Saturday, March 24. Memphis is scheduled to play at 10:00 a.m. against neighboring Rhodes College. They will take the field again against Christian Brothers University or Lambuth University. The time is to be announced.

Memphis will host Colaiste Ide on Wednesday, March 28. The game is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The following day, the Tigers will close the month of March with a fundraising event. The Silent Auction is scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m. on south campus.

The spring season will conclude with a trip to Atlanta on April 14 to compete against the Atlanta Silverbacks. Memphis is scheduled to play at 11:00 a.m.

Memphis is looking to replace a key loss in senior Jamie Gilbert, who played in all 18 games this past season. Gilbert is currently in Ireland trying for a spot on the professional team.
