MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Tigers hosted the Tim McCage Cup at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex today, to honor the former Memphis soccer player. Memphis took home the runner-up title, after losing to Christian Brothers University in the championship game.

Memphis entered the tournament in hopes of taking home the tournament trophy for the third time in a row. The Tigers looked solid in the first game of the tournament, where they defeated Rhodes College 2-1. Junior Jared Britcher scored the first goal for the Tigers. Sophomore Tripp Harkins, who was assisted by freshman Jonahan Romero, scored the second goal.

With the victory against Rhodes, Memphis moved into the championship game, where they faced CBU. Both teams looked solid and put up a great fight. The game was tied 1-1, but CBU took home the title with a penalty kick. Sophomore Shaun Goulding scored the only Tiger goal.

The championship match was a great battle between both teams and it was an even match between teams. Memphis just fell short at the end, giving them second place at the tournament.

Romero had a great performance in the first game against Rhodes. Leading the Tigers in the tournament was junior Michael Coburn, who was the man of the day, with an outstanding performance in both games.

Larry McCage, the father of Tim McCage, was present at the game and presented the trophy to CBU.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, where they will host Colaiste Ide at 7:00 p.m. at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Admission to the game is free.
