Alexa Porter is tied for fourth place after the first round of the Conference USA Championships in El Paso.

EL PASO, Texas - The University of Memphis women's golf team began play at the Conference USA Championships at the Butterfield Trail Golf Club in El Paso. The Lady Tigers, playing with four players, are in eighth place at the conclusion of round one.

The Lady Tigers shot a 309 in the opening round of the tournament, led by Alexa Porter. The shot a one-over-par 73 and is currently tied for fourth place, just one stroke off the lead. Senior Dawn-Marie Conaty shot a 77 and is tied for 19th. Junior Rachel Larson is tied for 26th after firing a 78 and sophomore Leslie Grabeman posted an 81 and is currently tied for 37th.

Southern Miss is leading the tournament after 18 holes. The Golden Eagles possess a two-stroke lead over the field. Clara Viladomiu of Southern Miss, Leisl Hasbrouck of Tulsa and Jamie Brabb of UAB are in a three-way tie for the individual lead, each shooting an even-par round on Monday. Porter is tied with Abby Bools of East Carolina at one-over.

The Lady Tigers will continue in the Conference USA Championships with second round play on Tuesday.
