IRVING, Texas - For the second time this season, University of Memphis libero Christine Bach earned Conference USA weekly recognition as she was tabbed co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced today. Bach, who shares this week's award with Tulane libero Jenn Miller, has now earned the weekly honor three times in her one-plus year in the Blue and Gray.

Bach anchored the Memphis defense that held its opponents to a .155 hitting percentage. The Tiger libero led the team with 92 digs (5.75 dps) on the week to play her part in a 3-1 week of action. Bach averaged no less than 5.0 digs per game in any of the four contests. She picked up 20-or-more digs in all four matches, including making 25 versus a tough Florida International squad and 24 against UAB--both Memphis wins. Bach also recorded eight aces, including serving up five aces in the C-USA opener at UAB.

The first C-USA player to garner multiple weekly awards this season, Bach helped Memphis to an impressive 3-1 showing this week. The Tigers captured their first win at UAB since the 2004 season with a 3-1 triumph over the Blazers. They then defeated an FIU squad that had received votes in early top-25 polls, and swept Chattanooga.

The Tigers continue Conference USA play on the road this weekend with trips to Marshall and East Carolina. Memphis faces Marshall on Sept. 26 at 6 p.m. (CST) and meets East Carolina on Sept. 28. at Noon (CST).
